Today, Boox, one of the leading manufacturers of E Ink tablets and eReaders, announced the Nova Air 2. The Nova Air 2 is a 7.8-inch tablet with impressive specs, including a front light and a quad-core processor. Here’s everything you need to know about the newest addition to Boox’s line of E Ink tablets.
Design and Specs
The Nova Air 2 has a minimalist design similar to the original Nova Air. It’s only available in ivory white, and it has a plastic body with rounded corners. On the front of the tablet is the 7.8-inch E Ink display, which has a resolution of 1,880 x 1,404 at 300dpi.
It boasts a front light with both warm and cool settings. On the back of the tablet are two speakers, and there is a USB-C port for charging and data transfer and a microphone as well.
Under the hood, the Nova Air 2 is powered by a Qualcomm octa-core processor with 3Gb of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It’s running Android 11.0, which updates the Nova line to the same operating system as other Boox devices. This also means it has access to all Google Play apps.
It has a 2000mAh battery, which should be sufficient for several weeks of charge. However, keep in mind that your battery life will be significantly shorter if you’re using the front light frequently or installing many resource-intensive apps.
Pricing and Availability
The Nova Air 2 is available for pre-order (US and Hong Kong) from Boox’s website for $339.99 and will be shipped in November. For the rest of the world, pre-order and shipping dates are yet to be confirmed.
First-look Verdict
Rather than being a new product with lots of new features and capabilities, the Nova Air2 is simply the next generation of the Nova Air. Notable differences include the update to Android 11.0 and the sleeker design but, apart from that, not a lot has changed. The Nova Air2 is also a bit more expensive than the Nova Air.
