Boox Launches Tab Mini C: A Compact, Colour E-Ink Tablet

In the landscape of digital devices, Onyx Boox has made a name for itself with its e-ink tablet lineups.

This year, they’re pushing boundaries again, having already released a 13.3″ monochrome e-ink tablet and a 10.3″ colour eink tablet – and now having just announced the release of the Boox Tab Mini C, their new 7.8-inch colour e-ink tablet.

Priced at around $450, the Boox Tab Mini promises a perfect blend of portability, performance, and versatility.

The Boox Tab Mini C uses a 7.8-inch Kaleido 3 screen, offering a screen resolution of 1404 x 1872 (300 ppi) for black and white and 702 x 936 (150 ppi) for colour. This should provide users with crystal-clear, easy-to-read text and vibrant images.

Under the hood, the Boox Tab Mini C is powered by a 1.8 GHz octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The device comes with an internal storage of 64GB, providing ample space for thousands of e-books, documents, and apps.

To ensure that your reading or work session isn’t interrupted, the tablet is equipped with a 5000mAh battery. As for the operating system, it runs on Android 11.0, providing access to a wide range of applications through the Google Play Store.

The device boasts a frontlight feature for comfortable night reading, as well as note-taking capabilities (with handwriting recognition), which is a nice touch for those who like to jot down notes or doodle on their tablets.

Onyx Boox has ensured the Boox Tab Mini C has the necessary connectivity features including Wifi and Bluetooth, while audio needs are catered for with built-in speakers and a microphone.

Although the Boox Tab Mini C lacks an SD card slot and is not waterproof, it supports a wide range of file formats, including but not limited to PDF, EPUB, MOBI, CBZ, CBR, AZW, AZW3, DJVU, and TXT. It also offers support for Kindle (downloadable from the Google Play Store), making it a versatile choice for e-book enthusiasts.

In terms of physical dimensions, the Boox Tab Mini C measures 136.5mm in width, 194mm in height, and has a slim profile with a thickness of just 8.3mm. It’s lightweight too, tipping the scales at a mere 264g.

In conclusion, Onyx Boox’s latest release, the Tab Mini C, packs a powerful punch in a compact, lightweight design. It’s an interesting development in the e-ink tablet market, which will likely appeal to users who prioritize screen quality, versatility, and portability.

The Boox Tab Mini C is now available for purchase at the Boox Store.
