UPDATE 5/12/2023: Ratta Supernote kindly answered a few queries I had about the Nomad.
We finally have a tentative release date for the long-awaited 7.8″ Supernote A6 X2 (Nomad).
According to Supernote.EU (Ratta Supernote’s European distributor), the A6X2 will be shipped from mid-December 2023 and is currently available for pre-order.
It is available in two varieties; white (priced at €423), and crystal/transparent (priced at €453). These prices include the Standard Pen/stylus and Leather Folio.
It has a 7.8″ monochrome e-ink Carta (glass) screen with the FeelWrite2 screen protector (to make writing feel more paper-like) and no frontlight. Pixel density is 300PPI.
Under the bonnet, there is a RK3566 Quad-Core 1.8 GHz processor, 4Gb RAM, and 32Gb of storage capacity. Storage can be extended via a MicroSD card.
It weighs 266g and has dimensions of 191.9 x 139.2 x 6.8mm. This means it weighs slightly more and has a slightly bigger footprint than the A6X but it is also slightly thinner.
The battery is 2700mAh and will be replaceable.
In terms of connectivity, like all Supernotes, there is Wifi, Bluetooth and USB-C.
It runs Ratta Supernote’s proprietary Operating System, Chauvet, which is based on Android 11 and has apps for note-taking, e-reading, GMail, and Calendar. The Kindle app can also be installed.
Whilst Ratta Supernote themselves have not yet made an official announcement (although I believe it will be imminent), Supernote.EU are authorised resellers and so they are a pretty reliable information source.
Ratta Supernote has been providing sneak peeks of the A6X2 via their email list, including the images below, which I found very interesting.
Update 25/11/2023
Ratt have now made their official announcement of the A6 X2 and provided a few more pieces of information:
- It will have a g-sensor (for auton-orientation between portrait and landscape)
- Two capacitive side-swipe bars with gestures for eraser, lasso select, page-turning and undo/redo
- Eco friendly design: Modular design, partially bio-based shell that is anti-bacterial and anti-allergenic, environmentally-friendly packaging
- New drawing/painting app with a variety of brushes
- An optional Linux operating system will be available in the future (I believe it will need to be manually installed.
I have to say, I’m really excited for this new generation of Supernote tablet but will withhold judgment until I have used it myself.
